The current US President Joe Biden has nominated the career diplomat Donald Armin Blome as a new US ambassador in Pakistan. White House announced on Wednesday, October 20, 2022.
Middle East expert Donald Blome was serving as the US ambassador in Tunisia. He has also worked at US Embassy in Kabul as a political counselor.
The decision by Washington comes at a time when it has to deal with a changeful Afghanistan after the American NATO forces withdrew from Afghanistan and the Taliban took over the whole country.
Tunisia, where Blome has served as an ambassador, is an important diplomatic outpost for America in North Africa. He was there to represent interests beyond the country’s borders.
Blome earned a JD and BA from Michigan University. He is also able to speak the Arabic language.
However, the ambassadorial position in America requires Senate confirmation.
